His winnings of over 110 thousand pounds was impressive by any standard, and any punter who placed his money on Tulloch could walk away from the track with a smile on their face. Just better. His next race, a St. Georges Stakes provided Prince Darius an in frequent opportunity to gain revenge, an opportunity of which he availed himself to relegate Tulloch to second place. He had his first start in 1957 as a two-year-old.
Ace high returned the favour by beating Tullich in the Ascot Vale Stakes. During the autumn portion of that campaign, Tulloch and Prince Darius resumed their rivalry, where Prince Darius beat Tulloch twice, including a win in the St. George Stakes and a finish behind Sailors Guide in the VRC Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

The very next week, this time ridden by G. Moore, he won the Cannonbury Stakes beating Prince Darius over five furlongs in a time of 1:01 and 3/5ths.

The rest of the two-year-old campaign held five more victories for Tulloch and nothing worse than a second-place finish, giving him a record for the 1956-57 season of seven wins and six second-place finishes out of 13 starts. 2010. His next start produced another win, again a 5 furlong sprint, where Arthur Ward rode Tulloch to victory over Good Summer in the Gwyn Nursery Stakes at Caulfield. Foreign buyers unsuccessfully attempted to persuade Tulloch’s owner to sell him, and Haley was contemplating running his racer in England at the United States, which had a vibrant racing industry at that time, when Tulloch succumbed to the mysterious stomach malady that nearly killed him, caused frequent infections, and caused the horse to lose a considerable amount of weight. This was the one race where he failed to place, coming in seventh. Just better. He finished racing with 36 wins, 12 second-place finishes, four third places and one unplaced from his 53 starts. This illness caused him to miss two years during what could reasonably be considered prime racing age. This is the point where Tulloch fell ill to the aforementioned stomach virus followed by numerous infections that almost resulted in his death, along with completely wiping out his four-year-old season.
